New Years Resolutions: Treat Yourself to Pampering
One of the things I really want to focus on in 2018 is self-care not only in terms of healthy eating and working out, but also being mindful of taking time to pamper myself. Winter can be especially rough on skin and hair because of cold temperatures and the drying effects of heaters. Here are some of my favorite places to get pampered.
Woodhouse Day Spa: Everything about the Woodhouse experience is exceptional from their luxurious changing rooms, to the heated neck pillows guests are provided while waiting for their service. The spa itself is both comfortable and chic at the same time and there are so many separate treatment areas that can accommodate solo treatments, couples treatments or a larger group. They offer manicures, pedicures, massages, facials and body treatments. I’m looking forward to trying their Warm Spiced Mud Wrap treatment that incorporates organic ginger and cinnamon (known to having firming and toning effects, win!) with a mud and seaweed body treatment. Woodhouse also has a great retail section of jewelry, skincare products and candles that is pretty hard to ignore. Woodhouse Day Spa is located at 725 Johnnie Dodds Blvd, services can be booked by calling (843) 203-1772 or visiting https://charleston.woodhousespas.com/.
Blo-Blow Dry Bar: Confession, I am a full-blown (ha!) blowout addict. Blowout salons have been all the rage lately, and are salons that only offer wash and style services (no cuts, colors, etc.). Nothing has me feeling like my best self quite like leaving the hair salon, and with Blo, this can be a weekly occurrence. The stylists usually throw in a mini scalp massage during the wash, which is incredible. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, you can add a head massage or a deep conditioning hair treatment for some extra oomph to your locks. They offer several membership options making it a pretty affordable luxury. Blo offers eight signature styles (I’m a fan of the Pillowtalk) and they recently added makeup services which makes it a one-stop shop for a big night out. Blo is located at 905 Houston Northcutt Blvd #101 (Whole Foods Shopping Center), services can be booked by calling (843) 805-4068 or visiting http://blomedry.com/locations/blo-blow-dry-bar-charleston-mount-pleasant/.
Mylk Bar-Nail Salon: There is a nail salon in virtually every strip mall, but Mylk is a really special one because it is not only unbelievably cute, but more importantly committed to a clean and non-toxic salon. Some major differences between Mylk and other nail salons are that all of the product they use are fume-free, nontoxic and free of harmful chemicals, they also use disposable tools and unplumbed foot baths that are double sanitized. While this is all important, it is likely the completely Instagram-worthy salon that will have you obsessed with Mylk. Mylk Bar is located at 920 Houston Northcutt Blvd Unit A4, services can be booked by calling (843) 388-5877 or visiting https://www.mylk.bar/.
Ella Ora: I have not actually had the opportunity to try their services yet, but a treatment from Ella Ora is definitely on my checklist this winter. The skin therapy clinic opened a few months ago a few doors down from where I live and specializes in non-surgical toning and tightening of the skin. Treatments options include Collagen Renewal Treatment and a Liquid Surgery Facial that I am really excited to try. The Liquid Surgery utilizes a serum that mimics hemoglobin which enters skin cells and replaces carbon dioxide with oxygen (science is cool right?). Ella Ora also hosts quite a few pop-ups, which is a great opportunity to check out the spa, the services they offer and speak to an experienced aesthetician about how everything works. Ella Ora is located at 724 S. Shelmore Blvd. Suite 100, services can be booked by calling (843) 936-2036 or visiting http://ellaora.com.
Here’s to better hair, skin and nails in 2018!
