All I Want for Christmas
Kristina: What do I want for Christmas? Every year I struggle with this question. For many people that’s easy to answer. For me, I either want old-people, boring presents that are kind of embarrassing, i.e. on my list this year: a spiral vegetable slicer to make veggie pasta noodles and new pans, or I want things that are too expensive, and I’d never expect anyone to buy them for me; perhaps someone could buy me a trip to Australia and New Zealand or a small yacht (just a small one)? In all honesty, all I want for Christmas is to spend it with people that I love – enter the Mariah Carey Christmas song we’ve all heard 500 times this season – and to eat large amounts of my grandma’s rum cake she makes every year.
Amy: All I want for Christmas is more time to do my gift shopping. It never fails, every year after Halloween I judge those that are immediately in the Christmas spirit, decorating and shopping their little hearts out. As Thanksgiving comes and goes, I think to myself, Christmas is still a full month away...then, it happens, I wake up one morning in a sheer state of panic because it's almost here. Where will I be tomorrow? Most likely wrestling some mom for the last sherpa throw on shelves or 100 people deep in a check out line. More realistically, what I want for Christmas is more cheesy Christmas movies, having only discovered Hallmark movies this year, I have to say I am a full-fledged addict.
Parker: This one’s easy. All she wants for Christmas is her fur back! All of her life she’s had perfectly coiffed fur blowing in the wind, looking like a female version of Teddy Ruxpin – yes, she woke up like this. But, amidst a recent visit to doggie daycare where she wrestles all day with other pups, she developed mats that looked something like Lil Wayne’s dreadlocks. Sounds like a cool look to us, but it’s apparently not good for a dog’s skin. So, ultimately she had to get a buzz cut. After a three-day long identity crisis (no joke) she’s starting to feel like her old self, but can’t wait for the days when she can be the hair envy of all of her dog friends again.
