5 Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s/Galentine’s Day in Charleston

5 Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s/Galentine’s Day in Charleston

Valentine's Day is one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants. This year skip the cramped two-top in the corner and celebrate with a fun class.

1. Galentine’s Day Cookie Decorating Class at Cannonborough Collective [Wednesday, Feb 13]

Everything about Cannonborough Collective is the definition of adorable, from their pink front door to their selection of fun balloons and locally made gifts. The specialty balloon and gift store also doubles as an event space and regularly hosts workshops and pop-up events. On Wednesday, Feb 13 they will be welcoming Alison from Bullfish Cookie Company for a cookie decorating class. Each participant will decorate and take home six sugar cookies (unless you eat them all, which no one would judge you for) while enjoying light bites and drinks. The class is $50 per person and can be reserved here: www.bullfishcookieco.com

2. Cooking Class at Zero George [Every Monday in Feb]

This hands-on class allows guests to prepare a three-course meal with local ingredients and includes wine pairings. Sample menu includes cucumber salad with bronze fennel & lime buttermilk, pan roasted shrimp with gnocchi, pancetta, sundrop tomato and tarragon and strawberries with sweet balsamic syrup and honey sweetened Chantilly. The class is $150 per person and can be reserved here: www.exploretock.com/zerorestaurant

3. Wine Blending by Kessler at Grand Bohemian [Check website for class dates]

The ninety-minute class begins with an introduction to different grape varietals. Each guest then has the opportunity to create their own blend suited to their tastes, bottle it and create a customized label. I really like this idea for Valentine’s Day or an anniversary because you have something to take home with you to remember the day by. The class is $95 per person (excludes taxes and fees) and can be reserved here: www.classesbykessler.com

4. Candlefish BYOB Scented Candle Making Class [Check website for class dates]

The Candlefish Candle making workshop is one of my favorite experiences. Their scent library has 100 scents to choose from. During their candle making classes, participants BYOB wine, beer, etc. (they even provide glassware) and mix and match any of their scents to create a custom candle. The workshop itself also has a lot of other locally made candles and gifts to pick up and is definitely worth a visit. Normally the classes are priced at $45 per person, but their Valentine’s class will be $65 per couple and can be reserved here: www.candlefish.com

5. Wine & Design ‘Paint Your Partner’ [Wed, Feb 14]

Paint and sip classes have been a super popular concept in recent years. Basically, an art instructor leads you to paint a pre-chosen design while you drink wine (or a beverage of your choosing). Wine & Design has some really cute painting designs on their regular rotation. For Valentine’s Day, they are hosting a special paint your partner class in the style of Romero Britto’s work. Participants are encouraged to bring their own beverages and appetizers. Class is $35 per person and can be reserved here: www.wineanddesign.com
